Your private tent on Pelicano Island.
Your tent is already set up when you arrive, with a bed, pillows, sheets and blankets. Each tent is reserved for your booking and accommodates one or two adults. Traveling solo? You’ll have the tent to yourself.
Your tent is private, but the bathrooms are shared. Camping guests use the same shared bathrooms and basic showers as Pelicano’s cabin guests, and the showers use treated water. Electricity is limited and comes from generators; island staff will show you where to charge your phone. Wi-Fi is generally available on the island while the generators are on, but once they’re turned off at night there’s no signal until the next day. Mobile signal varies a lot by island, location, time of day and weather, and phone reception in and around the islands is generally very weak.
Pelicano Island, locally known as Gorgidub, is a small, peaceful San Blas island known as a filming location for the Netflix series Money Heist. Meals during your stay are included, with fresh seafood or chicken and one juice, soda or water at each meal. Between meals, enjoy the beach, paddleboards, volleyball and kayaks when available. Evenings are quiet and relaxed: after dinner, guests stargaze, meet fellow travelers in the communal area or unwind to the sound of the ocean.
Sea San Blas is 100% Guna-owned and has run trips in Guna Yala for more than 20 years. On Pelicano, your hosts are a Guna family, and your stay pays local captains, cooks and island hosts directly.
Who it suits
Solo travelers, couples and adult backpackers who want San Blas on a budget. Camping is for adults only, and each tent sleeps one or two. Facilities are simple, with shared bathrooms, basic showers and limited electricity.

No. Your tent is already set up, with a bed, pillows, sheets and blankets included.
Will I sleep on the ground?
No. You’ll sleep on a bed inside your tent.
Is the tent private?
Yes. Each tent is reserved for your booking and sleeps one or two adults. Solo guests have the tent to themselves.
Can I book a camping stay alone?
Yes. Solo adults can book a private tent and pay the same per-person rate as guests traveling together.
How much does San Blas camping cost?
One night costs USD 135.00 per person. For two or more nights, the rate is USD 90.00 per person per night: USD 180.00 for two nights or USD 270.00 for three nights. Applicable additional charges are listed in the pricing and exclusions sections.
Is this suitable for backpacking in Panama?
Yes. It suits adult backpackers who want a San Blas island stay with transport, meals and excursions arranged. The tent and bedding are supplied, and solo travelers can book. Facilities are simple, with shared bathrooms and limited electricity.
Can you pick me up from my Panama City hostel?
Pickup is available from hostels within our designated Panama City service area. Confirm your pickup location when booking: search for it, and the booking system will tell you whether it’s inside our pickup area. Pickup is generally 5:00 – 5:20 AM, and departure is around 5:30 AM. Pickups from the Westin Playa Bonita or Dreams Playa Bonita cost an extra USD 10.00 per person. You can change your pickup location up to 24 hours before your trip; changes on the morning of the trip aren’t possible.

Can children join?
This camping experience is for adults only. For a family stay, explore the private cabin options on Pelicano Island.
Do the tents have private bathrooms?
No. Camping guests use the same shared bathrooms and basic showers as Pelicano’s cabin guests. The showers are very basic and rustic: the water is taken from the ocean and goes through an underground treatment process, so it isn’t salt water, but it isn’t fully fresh water like you’d find in a hotel or city either.
Are meals and drinks included?
Yes. Island meals and one juice, soda or water with each meal are included, with seafood or chicken available. The menu depends on the day’s availability. On the standard checkout day, only breakfast is included. The arrival-day restaurant breakfast is separate. If you’d like more drinks, you can buy them on the island, and you’re welcome to bring your own alcohol, drinks and snacks.

Standard departure returns around 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Late checkout returns around 7:00 – 7:30 PM: it costs USD 35.00 per person, includes lunch and extends your island time until the 3:00 PM departure. You vacate your tent at 9:00 AM. After your trip, we can also drop you off at Tocumen International Airport, Albrook Airport or Albrook Bus Terminal at no extra cost; let us know before you leave the islands.
Can I add extras or add-ons after I book?
All extras and add-ons, including late checkout, must be selected and paid for when you book. Once the day of your trip arrives, you can’t add or request any extras or add-ons.
